Impact of cataract surgery on the quality of life of patients with advanced glaucoma

Aim: To describe changes in the quality of life and visual performance advanced glaucoma patients after lensectomy. Materials methods: Retrospective cohort study with requiring cataract surgery between March September 2018 at Glaucoma Service Hospital Oftalmológico Santa Lucía. Advanced was defined as present when there a cup/disc ratio > 0.8, field damage within 10 degrees central fixation or temporal remnant. Standard phacoemulsification intraocular lens implantation performed. An adapted low-vision questionnaire administered before one month postoperatively. Results: A total 9 (6 women 3 men) were included. The age range 29 to 88 (mean: 71 years). Visual acuity improved most cases an improvement sensitivity mean deviation model standard deviation, well areas evaluated. Conclusion: Cataract should be considered alternative stable pressure, since substantial benefit function has been observed.
